PWHA x THWL Mentorship Program: 2023-24 Season
The program is back for its second year and applications are open!
Hi everyone!
We hope y’all have been cherishing the past few weeks of summer despite the sun not shining most days. On our end, we decided to extend our break longer since we have a big year ahead. Also, if we’re being honest, the off-season has been bland, so there wasn’t much to report on anyway.
But neither here nor there are the reasons for our new issue - we are here with exciting news!
Early August, we announced that we had opened applications for the 2023-24 season of The Professional Hockey Writers’ Association x To Hockey With Love mentorship program.
Yes, the program is returning, and we are excited to work again with people at the PHWA and the Daily FaceOff for a second year. We are also happy to announce the addition of theScore as our newest partnership.

As a change for this year, although there will still be two cohorts (fall and winter), we will only open applications once, so make sure you apply to be part of this year’s program.
We invite members of marginalized communities who are interested in hockey writing to apply. Through this mentorship, we want to address the problem of underrepresentation in hockey media.

Lastly, for Chicago Folks
Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus will host an Athletic subscriber get-together at Bernie’s (3664 N Clark) in Wrigleyville this Saturday, Sept. 2, beginning at 6 p.m.
They’re raising money to help fund the mentorship program! If you can contribute anything, you can donate in person or make one via the following link: https://t.co/6qlqPuEBAh
It will also be your opportunity to meet and discuss with our very own Gaby in person, as she’s not known to be in the wild often!
With love,
Perrye & Gaby
